(Born 1988), Bandung based artist, was academically trained as a ceramist, but now focuses on photography and digital printmaking.
Growing up in a Christian family, Sinaga is familiar with various religious activities and stories that become a source of inspiration in his work. Many of his works are the questions to the issues around faith and belief in general.
His main concern about religion is not about God nor about His teaching, but about religion that serves as an institution that construct people’s identity. Like the religious paintings in history, his photographs contain symbols and metaphors. The audience is urged to find the meaning behind his works. Recently, he is also focusing on digital printmaking by manipulating images that represent figures and events in Christianity.
Antonio achieved the First Prize, Gudang Garam– Indonesia Art Award 2015, Galeri Nasional,Jakarta –Indonesia and First Prize, Soemardja Award 2012, Galeri Soemardja, Bandung – Indonesia, he had 2 solo exhibitions in Indonesian so far, joint ‘Jakarta Contemporary Ceramics Biennale’ in 2012 and 2014, Bazaar Art Jakarta in 2014 and 2015.
