Antonio S. Sinaga

Antonio S.Sinaga

(Born 1988), Bandung based artist, was academically trained as a ceramist, but now focuses on photography and digital printmaking.

Growing up in a Christian family, Sinaga is familiar with various religious activities and stories that become a source of inspiration in his work. Many of his works are the questions to the issues around faith and belief in general.

His main concern about religion is not about God nor about His teaching, but about religion that serves as an institution that construct people’s identity. Like the religious paintings in history, his photographs contain symbols and metaphors. The audience is urged to find the meaning behind his works. Recently, he is also focusing on digital printmaking by manipulating images that represent figures and events in Christianity.
