S.A.C. is proud to present Venus of Orientalia, a solo exhibition by Thanwa Huangsmut, showcasing his new series of paintings at Art Centre Bldg., 1st floor, Subhashok The Arts Centre, Bangkok, during 22 September – 14 October 2018.

The goddess does not exist only in the West; but in the Eastern world, the goddess also appears with the beauty and power for humans to believe faithfully in the form of female. Thus, the Venus presented in Venus of Orientalia is not the goddess depicted in the western ancient myth, yet the goddess in the East. Creating from the artist’s strong belief, the power of women is more than just physical appearance; however, women have a remarkable instinct that can control and reconcile with surrounding lives to live together in peace. The naked female figure stands monumentally among numerous creatures in the painting does not present merely eroticism of female. In contrast, the nudity is a symbol which refer to the relationship of diverse lives on earth and the power of living together peacefully.

After became adult, the artist has seen the world in a different angle. He has seen the deep relationship of lives that connect to each other one way or another, e.g. between animals in various species; humans in diverse cultures; or between humans and creatures. Through the history that diverse cultures have been mixed and blended, Huangsmut arranges creatures and ancient architectures surround a gorgeous female nude as if she is wearing gems and luxurious costumes in order to represent the relationship between humans and nature that they are connected firmly and cannot be separated.

In this series, Huangsmut still maintains his unique style of expression which paint in a very fine and delicate way. However, he reduces the size of works and add more details in order to challenge his ability of painting.
