START Art Fair 2018 | SAC Gallery Bangkok : Booth 7.1 & 7.2

S.A.C. Gallery Bangkok in
START Art Fair 2018

S.A.C. Gallery is proud to present Pichai Pongsasaovapark (Booth 7.1) and Akira Ishiguro(Booth 7.2) in the fifth edition of START 2018, during 13 – 16 September 2018 with VIP Preview on Wednesday 12 September, 15.00-21.00 hrs.

Pichai Pongsasaovapark is a Bangkok-based artist who uses acrylics, mixed media, and photography to create textured and visually complex abstract and conceptual work, who is represented by the Subhashok Arts Centre (Bangkok). His artwork is in several permanent collections, including the Luciano Benetton Foundation in Milan, Italy, and the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, USA, and included in the Luciano Benetton Foundation’s landmark volume, Thailand: Spiritual & Material – Contemporary Artists from Thailand (2015).His new works show the danger of air pollution from various vehicles and machines on the street and in operation in different locations throughout Thailand. While his previous work was created by holding canvasses in extremely close proximity to exhaust pipes, resulting in eerily beautiful flower-like images, in this new series, he captured the exhaust emission smoke and fumes onto canvasses to achieve a more abstract and three-dimensional image and to make it a more tactile and tangible experience for the viewer skeptical of the dangers represented by floral landscapes.   More info and Artwork Images

Akira Ishiguro (Born 1974), Japanese artist, his works start with the question of marble and stone materials, which have been valuable to high culture since the ancient times; most notably with the Greeks and Romans. The remnants of their grand architecture is often seen adorned with various marble statues and facades. The strength and beauty of marble has become a modern representation of luxury. It is a material of high status and aristocracy. For Akira, this past links to our current period as society develops and culture changes. The artist presents ideas from the hidden value of materials to the creation of alternative materials or the creation of artificial materials. More info and Artwork Images
